Be patient...God is working

My husband and I recently purchased our first house. The house was a miracle in itself (but that’s another story for later). We are so excited and can’t wait to move in! But there is one problem… the house needs some work before we can move in. Today, I was just thinking about how awesome it would be to move in already instead of having to wait for all this work to be completed. I found myself feeling impatient.
The same is true for our lives. It’s hard to be patient with what God is doing in our lives. It’s exciting when God has spoken to you. You’re pumped up and ready to do what God wants you to do. As time goes on, it becomes harder to wait. The middle ground is hard and we become impatient. We want to go from point A to point B as quickly and conveniently as possible. But God does not work based on our timing. He wants us to wait patiently.
What does it mean to be patient? Patience is to keep going even through adversity and setbacks come. Patience means to keep on going even when it seems like nothing is happening. It means to endure. As you wait for God, keep doing the right thing.
The house we bought is the house the Lord had for us. We have no doubt about it. But there is work to be done before it’s habitable. In your life, God is working too. God is preparing your heart so that it can contain and maintain what God is going to deposit in you. We want anointing and power, but our hearts are cluttered with other things that need to be removed. If the clutter is not removed, it becomes a hindrance and a danger to you. God is so gracious that He not only wants to deposit in you, but He also prepares the vessel that will contain the deposit.
I know that when my husband and I move into our house it will be a joyful moment. It’ll be even more special because my husband is the one working on it. It’ll be a home built by us. Similarly, when you look back at your life you’ll see God’s handiwork all over your life. Right now it may seem like not much is happening, but God is working. You will see His glory displayed in your life.
So what do you do as you wait? In the meantime, thank God for what He is doing. Thank Him because He is good no matter what. Thank him because his plan for you is good. As you thank him, your focus will turn to how mighty and powerful God is.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9
