Would you skydive without a problem?

Would you bungee jump and not be terrified?

Would you hold a snake?

The answer varies from person to person, but for me, the answer is NO to all the questions. Generally, those high risk, adrenaline pumping activities are not for me. However, I do admire those who take the jump.

In the book of Esther, we meet a young Jewish woman who is taken to the king's palace with the hopes of becoming the next queen. Esther was very beautiful, but she also had admirable qualities. One of those qualities was courage.

Courage can be defined as doing the right thing regardless of what it may cost you here on earth. That is a high standard to live by. When Esther and her people were facing destruction by the evil Haman, Esther risks her own life by exposing Haman's plan and by entering the king's throne uninvited to plead for her people's lives (Esther 8).

Esther thought of her people and not just about herself. Esther stood up for what was right; even when it went against the royal protocol. God blesses and honors those who strive to do the right thing; even when it goes against popular belief. Doing the right thing is not always easy, but it brings honor to God. When we are willing to sacrifice the comforts of life to obey God, then we have truly stepped into a faith that has depth and life-changing power. Many times, we don't want to abandon our comforts because they make us feel secure and accepted. God's security and love surpasses anything else on this planet.

I encourage you to step out in faith knowing that God is with you and He will sustain you.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy . 31:6)
