Lacking Nothing

Psalm 23 is a common scripture that comforts and uplifts in times of need. Reflecting upon verse 1 I came across an important truth that has changed the way I think about life. The truth is this: because Jesus lives in me, all my needs are already met.
"THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I LACK NOTHING." (Psalm 23:1 NIV)
It seems to me that the older I get time seems to fly by. With every stage of life comes new responsibilities, demands and expectations. Oftentimes, life can seem overbearing. A mom might feel like she just doesn't have what it takes to take care of her family. A student might feel overwhelmed by the demands of maintaining a job, getting an education while still having a social life. A young woman feels like her goals are too "out there" and like she's just "not enough."
I'd like to remind you that when you're in God's care, you will lack nothing; no matter what "it" may be. When you feel like you don't have the strength to continue, you can lie on His green pastures. When your well has run dry, you can drink from the quiet waters that will refresh your soul. It is when we have reached our limits that God's abundant love provides for every need. The Message Bible paraphrases verse 1 in the following way:
"GOD IS MY SHEPHERD! I DON'T NEED A THING."
Whatever you need today, God's got it. Whether is love, patience, faith, hope, healing or joy; God's got it. Rest in him and know that when you have Him all your needs are already met.
